HP company building logoHewlett-Packard (HP) has confirmed a new addition for their business tablet line-up for March of 2013 the HP Elitebook Revolve. The Revolve is set to feature a 11.6-inch HD touchscreen, Intel’s new third gen. Ivy Bridge Core processors, NFC, USB 3.0, DisplayPort, SSD storage, Windows 8 Pro, and more in an all-magnesium chassis that weighs 3.04 pounds.

HP Elitebook RevolveThe HP Elitebook Revolve will be a convertible style tablet, meaning the 11.6-inch computer will be able to be used as a standard laptop and as a tablet thanks to the displays hinge design. The 11.6-inch screen, which has a native resolution of 1366-by-68 pixels, can be rotated around to face any direction and by simply rotating the screen and laying flat over-top the keyboard and touchpad you turn the Elitebook Revolve into a Windows tablet.

The display is touch-enabled and HP does mention an optional stylus pen will be released for the Revolve, but the presence of a digitizer in the Revolve wasn’t mentioned by HP in their press release announcing the Revolve. A digitizer would allow the HP Elitebook Revolve to be used by artists or anyone interested in accurate stylus pen input. The inclusion of a digitizer would expand the potential customer base for the Revolve and make the model a worthy successor to the popular HP Elitebook 2760p.

HP says pricing will be announced sometime closer to the March 2013 release date.

In their press announcement HP listed the following features for the upcoming 11.6-inch HP Elitebook Revolve:

  • Your choice of Windows 7 Pro or the new Metro UI inclusive Windows 8 Pro operating system
  • Intel Core i processors from the Ivy Bridge family of mobile processors
  • An 11.6-inch diagonal HD (1366-by-768 pixels) display with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla® Glass® 2. The display can automatically adjust the screen orientation, brightness and more based on how you position the Revolve.
